A Novel Framework for Urban Flood damage Assessment

چکیده

In the current study, a novel method is proposed to analyze simultaneous impacts of non-stationarity in hydrological time series and land-use changes urban areas predict future floods probable damage. For this purpose, rainfall frequency analyses were conducted for two periods (first: 1979–2009 second: 1979–2019), results compared. Then, hydrologic modeling catchment was carried out using HEC-HMS model, obtained hydrographs fed HEC-RAS2D model estimating flood inundation areas. Using financial information assets their damage functions, damages related these evaluated through HEC-FIA model. The indicated that low return (e.g., 2-year flood), second period decreased with respect first one but increased 5 100 years. surface runoff, 4.65% increase due change 12% signed important role condition plays compared modeling. Moreover, showed 136% on average, among studied factors, rainfalls considerably more effective intensification. All points show socio-hydrological system completely dynamic.

A Framework for Flood Risk Analysis and Benefit Assessment of Flood Control Measures in Urban Areas

Flood risk analysis is more complex in urban areas than that in rural areas because of their closely packed buildings, different kinds of land uses, and large number of flood control works and drainage systems. The purpose of this paper is to propose a practical framework for flood risk analysis and benefit assessment of flood control measures in urban areas. Based on the concept of disaster ri...

Flood hazards and masonry constructions: a probabilistic framework for damage, risk and resilience at urban scale

This paper deals with the failure risk of masonry constructions under the effect of floods. It is developed within a probabilistic framework, with loads and resistances considered as random variables. Two complementary approaches have been investigated for this purpose: – a global approach based on combined effects of several governing parameters with individual weighted contribution (material ...

Flood damage assessment for Dhaka City, Bangladesh

Flood damage assessment is a key component in the development of city flood risk management strategies. A flood damage assessment model is being developed by combining flood hazard information (depth, extent, velocity, duration, etc.) with geographic information (land use/cover, buildings, infrastructure, etc.), social-economic data and population demographics to estimate urban flood impacts. I...

“ Assessment of economic flood damage ”

Damage assessments of natural hazards supply crucial information to decision support and policy development in the fields of natural hazard management and adaptation planning to climate change. Specifically, the estimation of economic flood damage is gaining greater importance as flood risk management is becoming the dominant approach of flood control policies throughout Europe. This paper revi...

A computational framework for flood risk assessment in The Netherlands

The safety of dikes in the Netherlands, located in the delta of the rivers Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt, has been the subject of debate for more than ten years. The safety (or flood risk) of a particular area may depend on the safety of other areas. This is referred to as effects of river system behaviour on flood risk (quantified as the estimated number of casualties and economic damage). In the N...
